This issue is in relation to the game unable to reach our authentication servers.
Please do the following steps to possibly resolve your issue. If you have static set information (uncommon) on your network adapter please write it down before following the steps below.
Wireless to Wired
Sometimes wireless connections act differently than wired depending on the network setup. Try connecting directly into a switch or router and turn off your wireless connection to see if that resolves the issue. If at a hotel they may block most outgoing connections besides just web surfing.
Winsock Reset
This will reset your network adapters to more of a default settings state.
- Click Start button in Windows.
- Type in "cmd" in the search box and once you see Command Prompt right click it and select Run as administrator.
- Once the black box appears type in "netsh winsock reset" and hit Enter key.
- This will take a few moments to complete before you see "Winsock reset completed successfully"
- Restart your computer
- Try playing Dungeon Defenders 2 and see if your issue is resolved. If not head on down to the next issue.
Hamachi/VirtualBox/Tunngle
If you have any of the above applications installed please try uninstalling them. If you have any important information from these applications make sure to back up that data before proceeding. How to uninstall is listed below.
- Click Start button in Windows.
- Type in "control panel" into the search box and hit Enter
- Depending on your settings click on "Uninstall a program" or "Programs and Features". You may need to click on "Programs" first before you see anything.
- Click the program you wish to uninstall like Hamachi to highlight it and click Uninstall or Change higher up on the screen. From here follow the uninstall instructions the program provides you.
- Restart your computer after the program has been uninstalled.
- Try playing Dungeon Defenders 2 and see if your issue is resolved. If not head on down to the next issue.
Re-install network card (WARNING - Potentially Dangerous)
WARNING: Before you do these steps please make sure you have a downloaded copy of your network drivers before proceeding and full admin rights to the computer. Failure to do so may result in a computer no longer able to access the Internet at all. This is only really safe to do on Windows 7,8,10.
- Right click "This PC/Computer/My Computer"
- Click "Manage"
- Expand "System Tools"
- Click "Device Manager"
- Expand "Network adapters"
- Right click your main network adapter and select "Uninstall"
- IMPORTANT: Do not remove the driver if asked.
- Once the network adapter is removed go to the top of the window and click the computer with the magnifying glass. You may need to click in white space in the window before it appears.
- Wait a minute for your computer to re-install your network card and acquire Internet access.
- Once complete reboot your computer.
- Try playing Dungeon Defenders 2 and see if your issue is resolved.
